SaGa Frontier was published in 1998 by Squaresoft (now known as SquareEnix). The game actually comes from a line of SaGa games and is the seventh installment. SaGa Frontier was the first of the series to come to Playstation. Though a strong RPG, the game is completely non-linear and focused on your party and leveling up. You are given the choice to start with one of seven characters, and from there you are introduced to the small story that character has, and then set free in to the world to do as you wish. There are a large number of side quests that each character can participate in, and while this can seem repetitive, it is a good way to meet every character in the game (including many NPCs) and level up quickly. Battle is turned based, and your characters have the ability to do combos with each other, or learn new skills. Though not for everyone, SaGa Frontier offers unique gameplay and strategy that are rarely seen.
